A Long Overdue Update

Wow, I haven't posted in something like three weeks.

It's hard to believe I used to blog every single day.

Anyways, I'm not here for good news, exactly.

As many of you know, my laptop suffered a major virus that I could not fix on the night of the 20th of June.

Here's the thing: my computer is still in the shop. Today is exactly five weeks from when I dropped it off. That means that I have not gotten much writing done at all.

They had to remove the virus and get me a new hard drive because my old one got ruined. In short, I lost everything I had on my computer.

I'm down my writing playlist, which was a big part of my writing process, and I lost absolutely all of my notes on The Sword of Kirakath.

In fact, I'm going to have to recreate Through the Flames by copying and pasting from the Kindle for PC app to Microsoft Word.

Word of advice: always back up your work on a USB drive or something of that nature.

So with the loss of all my notes (and that includes my outline of The Shadows of Caldreth), I'm in a bit of a bind.

I do have a number of chapters already written for the story, but I'm working on a new outline. It'll be different, but it is looking better. This means that I'm going to have to re-write/re-work the chapters I already have.

So here's the game plan: I'm moving the release date back to September 1st, which was the original release date. That will give me time to make sure that The Shadows of Caldreth knows your socks off.

I apologize to everyone that was eagerly awaiting the release in nineteen days, but I believe that the wait will be worth it.

Now that the bad news is out of the way, I'll bring in the good news. It's more good for me, but it's positive for my readers as well.

At this point, I have sold over 200 copies of Through the Flames... this month alone.

I am staying under a ranking of 10,000 now, and I've actually spent a good amount of time below the #5000 ranking.

I'm no John Locke, Amanda Hocking, Joe Konrath, or even David Dalglish, but I'm proof that success can happen to anyone.

I'm an unheard of, twenty year old author who couldn't afford to hire a professional cover artist and has collectively spent less than three hours promoting my book. And yet, I have sold seventy-five books in the last five days.

Even with all of my troubles on the writing side of the business lately, I have found this small measure of success.

So what's the secret, you ask?

Write the best book possible. Period.

All you need is one person to read your book and love it. If you can deliver a great book, your readers will do all the work for you. Please keep in mind that I am not saying not to promote though. After all, you still need to find someone who will read your book and love it.

Thanks for reading.

Have a nice day.

Update on The Shadows of Caldreth

The Shadows of Caldreth is making good progress so far, and it's naturally my WIP (work in progress) right now.

Still, my laptop has been out of commission for a few weeks, and it's hard to make truly good progress hand writing everything.

In order to prevent myself from rushing the story in any way (writing, proofreading, and editing wise), I'm moving the release date to August 15th. It was initially set for September 1st and was then moved to August 1st, so it's still coming out sooner than originally planned.

I think I should just start announcing release dates with a month added onto them so I don't have to announce delays. It gets bothersome for me, and I'm sure it gets annoying to the few people who actually visit my blog.

Anyways, that's all I'm going to blog on tonight.

Have a great day/night.

First Month Sales & a New Review

Okay, so I said I'd reveal my first month's sales today, so I will do that now.

Keep in mind that my book went online on June 16th at 8 pm at night. 32 sales 1 sale
Barnes & Noble: 4 sales
Smashwords: 2 sales
Returns: 0

So I ended the month with 39 sales total. And there was only 1 day that I did not get any sales whatsoever on.

Right now, I am selling consistently, so the month of July should be even better.

Another great thing is that have 2 reviews. The first was a 5 star review and the second one was a 4 star review, so now I have a 4.5 star rating for my book. They can both be found at or on the Amazon page. That's if the second one has shown up on Amazon, at least.

That'll be all for now. My laptop is still in the shop, so I am blogging from my Blackberry, and I am on schedule with The Shadows of Caldreth.

Thanks for reading.
